Another update in portal. Anoth-Wait, what? Apparently if you beat the game this is the alt ending, you get dragged away (apparently) by the androids on the BBS log.

Possible sequel?

Gives all the info you need, about the in-game morse code, about the BBS dial-up that generated ASCII images.

Valve sure knows how to advertise.

I do not know why this has not been mentioned yet considering how popular it seems to be with our members.

Final Fantasy XIII

I got the game last Friday. This was the game that made me decide 3 years ago that I would get a PS3.
And so far it has not disappointed me at all.

At first glance it is slightly frustrating that they choose to go back to the system of having 1 weapon and one accessory per character like it was introduced in FF VII.
But later it appears that we will get more slots to use more accessories as the characters develops.
Though being an old school FF games i still miss the old system where you had Main hand, Off-hand, Armor, Helm, Relic, Relic.
What i miss is upgrading the armors often and using new types of armor.
But I do admit. FF XIII allows me to upgrade in a really nice way and often as well. Its just the lack of new armors that I miss.

System for getting stronger? Again I am used to the old school "level up makes me STRONGER".
It doesn't exist here. Instead that adopted the idea of FFX and the combat gains is a version of the BoF IV.
You get combat experience and then you choose in what way you develop your character with your earned combat experience.
And you decide what "Nodes" that you wish to upgrade and thus clearing a path for more. (OKOK, I admint. In FFX you had more paths to choose from).

What about the combat system?
Its good. It is designed for high speed battle. And thus it does not ask me for every single input for all the characters. Instead I can focus on giving some of them a specific role to follow and I just control the leader of the 3.
And with the possibility to change the roles instantly mid fight it is actually good. If I am lazy I can even ask my own characters to set his/her own combination by using the auto function.
I heard reports about AI being slightly retarded and that some people miss the option to set rules like in FF XII.
ex. You have poison on you. The healer instead of cleaning the poison she will still cast cure even if you have 1589/1590 HP.
Might not be the smartest but what ever.

But even if comparing with other games and I still hold FF VI as the best in the serie it is still not a good comparison because they are not meant to be the same. I am happy I bought the game. It is everything i was hoping for.

I really only have one complaint.
WHY oh WHY is everyone in the party allowed to die except the leader. If 8 mobs decide to all attack the leader (Which i cant choose whom it is) and it happens to be my "Nuke it all glass cannon" he will die in less then 1 second even with protection buffs and i lose the fight

If i had been allowed to set a specific character as leader I would not have to use defensive accessories on him for a "just in case scenario". Maybe that will change later towards the end game.
